Why I Chose Naturopathic Medicine

From the moment I was introduced to naturopathic medicine, I knew that I had found my future career. I was in my first year of undergrad at Wilfrid Laurier University, and like many undergraduate students, I was confused about what exactly I wanted to do with my life. I knew I wanted to have a career that made a positive impact on the lives of others; one which forced me to be creative, confront new challenges each day, and never stop learning. I wanted a career that I could take pride in, and today I am indeed very proud to say that I am a naturopathic doctor! I love that as a naturopathic doctor, I have a wide array of treatment options to choose from in order to develop a treatment plan that is both gentle and unique to each person. But most of all, I love that I can truly take the time to listen to my patients, getting to know them as people, not just medical conditions.

My Approach to Medicine

My approach to medicine is one of simplicity. I truly believe that, in most cases, the simplest approach is also the most effective. If we lay a strong foundation for our bodies, using diet, exercise and healthy lifestyle choices as the building blocks, then we can limit the amount of repairs we will need to do in the future. That is why my treatment plans all centre around diet and lifestyle modifications, adding in supplements as needed.

My Credentials

I completed my Bachelors of Science degree in biology and chemistry at Wilfrid Laurier University, and then completed my naturopathic degree at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. I am a registrant of the The College of Naturopaths of Ontario and a member of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors and Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors.
